7 People who gained Superhuman Abilities after Terrible Accidents

You might expect to see some of these things in a Marvel comic book. But, the stories in this video reveal that fact is often stranger than fiction. Here we see seven people who were literally transformed, finding new extraordinary abilities, following severe accidents. Tragedy can bring new opportunities and become a catalyst for personal transformation that could never have been imagined. Enjoy!

Back to blogging

It’s been a very long time since I have posted anything new to this blog but I thought I’d start sharing my thoughts on things that are of interest and matter to me. Things like the environment, religion, healthcare and technology. This weekend just gone, I watched two excellent documentaries – An Inconvenient Truth by former Vice President of the USA, Al Gore  and Cowspiracy  a film by Kip Andersen & Keegan Kuhn. Both movies are compelling, fact-based and potentially life-changing.

An Inconvenient Truth won the Best Documentary Feature in 2006 and follows Al Gore showing the causes and effects of global warming. The aerial footage and pictures of the effects of global warming are shocking as are the facts. However, more shocking is that Gore, like many other environmental groups (including Greenpeace) have ignored the most significant factor in the environmental debate…animal agriculture. I first read about the relationship between the meat industry and the environment in 1987 in Diet For a New America by John Robbins and that had a profound effect on my life at the time. Cowspiracy is, to my knowledge, the first major film production to confront the issues of animal agriculture and expose the fact that some of the world’s leading environmental organisations have been complicit in completely misleading the public by ignoring or playing down the role animal agriculture has on the environment. Are we to believe that they really were not aware that…

  • 91{582a4cd6c5b6339d110be5919cb0de9cc71fedaf8429bffd51f3e2de8e47e79a} of the deforestation in the Amazon is caused by animal agriculture?
  • 51{582a4cd6c5b6339d110be5919cb0de9cc71fedaf8429bffd51f3e2de8e47e79a} of global greenhouse emissions are caused by animal agriculture?
  • 2500 gallons of water are needed to produce a pound of beef?
  • Animal agriculture is the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution and habitat destruction?

Cowspiracy is as compelling as any thriller and will make you aware of issues that humanity can no longer afford to ignore. The fact is that if we all don’t start to change the way we live, the very near future will be very bleak indeed. If you watch one film this year, watch ! Then make an informed choice about how you want to live and whether you want your life to be spent saving or destroying the future of the planet.

It is life’s limitations that make us limitless

This morning I came upon this beautiful presentation by artist Phil Hansen revealing how our limitations can actually free us to become limitless. When his art was destroyed by nerve damage in his hand, Phil’s neurosurgeon advised him to ‘Embrace the shake’. It was only then that something incredible happened! Enjoy!

Learning to be creative within the confines of our limitations is the best hope we have to transform ourselves and, collectively, to transform our world.

Motor Neurone Disease Good?

A report today in the Daily Mail reveals why Stephen Hawkings believes that he is happier with Motor Neurone Disease than he was before the illness struck nearly 50 years ago.

Stephen Hawking - a true inspiration

Hawkings said:

it taught me not to pity myself because others were worse off, and to get on with what I could still do.

I’m happier now than before I developed the condition.

Starbucks & a Flipside story

Just finished reading ‘How Starbucks Saved My Life’ by Michael Gill. Very enjoyable and easy read. It is a poignant, true story of how a man lost everything – his job, his marriage, his home – and this led him to a new, in many ways, more meaningful and personally satisfying life…working as a Barista for Starbucks! Highly recommended.

The gentle love and peace and happiness I felt now I had never experienced before. Maybe the mistakes I had made – causing so much damage – had also helped me to break out of my comfortable cocoon…to get out to a world so much more full of life and light.

The Flipside on SunTALK – thanks to Gaunty

Adam and Gaunty on SUNtalk and Bay radio

Big thank you to Andy & Dan and all the staff at Bay Radio and Gaunty and his team at SunTALK radio.

On hearing that Gaunty was presenting his show today live in Javea, I popped down to say hello and give Gaunty a copy of The Flipside. Whilst there, I was delighted to be invited to be interviewed on the show. Love him or hate him, Gaunty is a great, outspoken personality and an incredible radio presenter. I have to say that, aside from likening me to Right Said Fred, he was absolutely charming.
