Melanie Joy gives an excellent talk about the hidden ideology of Carnism, the psychology behind a meat-centred diet, explaining why we find it socially acceptable to kill and eat some animals (e.g. cows, sheep, and pigs) and, at the same time, abhorrent to eat other species (e.g. monkeys, cats and dogs).
