Welcome to my new blog. I’ll be posting news and updates here of my work as an author. My latest book ‘The Flipside’ which is due for publication in the UK in February 2009.

I have just finished reading Malcolm Gladwell’s latest book ‘Outliers: The Story of Success’ which I can highly recommend. It is a very interesting and thought-provoking read. However, if you’re looking for a guide on how to be successful, you’ll be disappointed. Gladwell looks at the life stories of ‘Outliers’ – people who have been extraordinarily successful in their fields, but rather than investigating their beliefs and strategies, Gladwell looks at the circumstances surrounding their success and raises some very interesting issues.  Gladwell explores how family history, community, culture, the environment and the times in which we live all contribute to an individual’s success.

One passing comment that was made on p.124 of the book was particularly interesting for me in light of The Flipside. Gladwell says ‘…as is so often the case with Outliers, buried in that setback was a golden opportunity.’ Outliers, he says, find golden opportunities in setbacks. This is the core idea behind the Flipside – problems, setbacks and even the most oppressive adversity contain opportunities that can lead to unimaginable success.This is, I believe, the key to lasting success and happiness in life – being able to find the opportunities in problems and setbacks.

I am delighted to say that The Secrets of Abundant series (Health, Wealth, Love & Happiness) is continuing to sell overseas. The latest new foreign rights include Estonia, Russia, China and Korea. I am hoping that the books will come back into print in English in 2009.

 

    Global Warming - Look in the mirror

    As the world lambasts Donald Trump (and rightly so) for withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord, I can't help but wonder just how many of those protesting are prepared to make a stand in their own lives. Governments can sign up to as many Accords as they like but, if we continue to support animal farming, it is all just empty words.     The Ten Secrets of Abundant Love - The Musical

    Today I was stunned, delighted and honoured to discover wonderful people in Chacao, Venezuela have created an incredible dance show based upon my book 'The Ten Secrets of Abundant Love'.  I have embedded some highlights as well as short clips from what appear to be rehearsals.     What is The Life Journal?
